How Do Your Kidneys Work?
It’s a question that we rarely ask others or ourselves, but it’s really every important. It is the healthy kidneys that keep you alive and living well. The kidneys remove harmful substances and waste from the body, balance fluids and electrolytes and even produce important hormones to regulate your blood pressure, produce red blood cells and improve your strong bones.
Once your kidneys are not functioned, the waste and toxins build up in your blood and damage your body. Kidney disease seldom goes away and you will feel worse, if no treatment is found.
A person can lose up to 90% of their kidney function before experiencing any symptoms.
Approximately 1.7 million Australians (1 in 9) over age 25 years have at least one clinical sign of existing CKD, such as reduced kidney function and the presence of proteinuria (protein in the urine) or haematuria (blood in the urine).
It is estimated that there are between 11 to 30 million people with chronic Kidney disease or other evidence of kidney disease in USA.
In the United States the cost of treating patients with renal replacement therapy will be US $28 billion by the year 2010. It is estimated that over 600 000 patients will require treatment.
The incidence kidney failure (or chronic Kidney disease) has doubled the last 15 years.
Kidney Disease affects many people and destroys many families. Loving your kidneys may be a way to rescue your life and family. LOVE YOUR KIDNEYS and ACTION NOW!
